So many of the challenges facing our society involve a human element, meaning an understanding of behaviour science is essential for creating meaningful change. As a result, behavioural science has found a foothold with both academic and practitioner audiences, with a sizeable ‘pracademic’ audience concerned with translating theory to application.
In this seminar, Morgan led a discussion on some current issues in behaviour science, before comparing and contrasting behavioural science in its various different forms (e.g. challenges, required skills, etc.).
Dr. Morgan Tear completed his PhD in Psychology at The University of Queensland, specialising in the role of media in social behaviour. He then held a postdoctoral position at the London School of Economics and Political Science, focusing on psychological and behavioural approaches to improving organisational safety culture. During his time in London, he conducted funded research with EUROCONTROL and served as a subject matter expert for a collaborative behavioural insights project led by the OECD. After five years as a Research Fellow at BehaviourWorks Australia, a Monash University-based behaviour change consultancy, he joined the Queensland Government’s first central behavioural insights unit in 2023.
